Catherine Aitken

Catherine Aitken was taught to sew at the age of nine by her grandmother, while growing up in the Scottish city of Dundee. With a kilt-making uncle and other relatives who loved to wear mohair and tweeds, it's no surprise that Catherine went on to develop a love of tartans and traditional Scottish textiles in her later years.

Initially, Catherine made her name as a film producer, and had started producing handbags as a promotional tool for her company. With so many people asking where they could buy the distinctive designs, however, she was finally prompted to set up her own label in 2004. Catherine now lives and works in Edinburgh and sells her work internationally.
